This page describes the process for opening or renewing an account
on the JPL supercomputers.
If you have any questions or need help please call us at

New Account Application
Overview
Supercomputer accounts are available without charge to JPL engineers and scientists, and their
collaborators. However, we require that the Project Lead begins the application process by filling out the form on the Account Applications page.
Terms and Definitions
Project Lead: A JPL U.S. person who requests time on the JPL supercomputer(s), and who is responsible for the use of that time. This person will specify resources and staff for the project.
Project Staff: Additional people working on the same project as the Project Lead,
who need time on the supercomputer(s). Project Staff do not need to apply separately and they
will receive email confirmation(s) that their account(s) have been approved. All users will need to
agree to the current User Agreement (see below).
New Project: This page allows the creation of a new project by enabling the Project Lead to
provide basic project information such as the desired project code, the project's title, if the project
is export-controlled or not, the project's field of investigation, research objectives and significance.
Resources Request: This page contains forms for the Project Lead to complete for specifying
project information and requesting resources for the project.
New Users: This page allows the Project Lead to add new users (Project Staff members) to
supercomputing resources.
Below are some questions on the application form that are commonly
misunderstood:
Computational Methods: What algorithm(s) will you run?
Will you use massively-parallel and/or embarrassingly-parallel processing?
Are ITAR or Competitive Sensitive Technologies Used: Classified
data is not allowed on the JPL supercomputers. You are responsible
for protecting sensitive data. If you need help with this, please
contact us.
Compute Environment: Which computer system(s) will you need?
How many cpu-hours will you need for this fiscal year?
Affiliates
Each Project Staff member must have a JPL badge number. Affiliates (non-JPL employees)
must be sponsored by their Project Lead via an Affiliate Badge Request.
The JPL Project Lead must complete the following process before an Affiliate's Project Staff account
is requested:
Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals (non-US citizens and non-green-card holders) must
be sponsored by a JPL employee, and will need approval from the JPL Office of Export Compliance
before any account application form will be accepted.
The JPL sponsor must complete the following process
before an Affiliate's Project Staff account is requested:

User Agreement
All users are required to accept the current user agreement at their first login,
in order to be able to access their account. The user agreement contains all the rules
with respect to the fair use of the supercomputing resources.
