New Account Application
Overview
Supercomputer accounts are available without charge to JPL engineers and
scientists, and their collaborators. However, we require that the project
lead begins the process by filling in the Project Lead Application Form.
The project lead's staff may then open their accounts.
Definitions
Project Lead - The person who requests time on the JPL
supercomputer(s), and who is responsible for the use of that time.
Project Staff - Additional persons working on the same project as
the Project Lead, who need time on the supercomputer(s).
Project Lead Account Application
Below are some questions from the application form that are commonly
misunderstood:
Computational Methods: What algorithms will you run?
Will you use parallel and/or embarrassingly parallel processing?
Will you run vector-based processing?
Are ITAR or Competitive Sensitive Technologies Used: Classified
data is not allowed on the JPL supercomputers. You are responsible
for protecting sensitive data. If you need help with this, please
contact us.
Compute Environment: Which computer systems(s) will you need?
How many cpu-hours will you need for this fiscal year?
Before sending in your application, please have your division
representative approve it and confirm the cpu-hours requested.
To view the list of division representatives, please use the following link:

Project Staff Account Application
Before starting the application process, you must to know your project's

of their application form.
Before sending in your application, please sign the Supercomputing User
