JPL SGI Altix 3700 Systems
The Altix 3700 is a scalable shared-memory multiprocessor system from Silicon
Graphics, Inc.
SGI's cc-NUMA (cache coherent non-uniform memory access) architecture supports
shared-memory SMP (OpenMP or Pthreads) and message-passing (MPI or SHMEM)
programming, or a combination of both (hybrid programming). It combines the
scalability of a massively-parallel machine, and the high-capacity memory
bandwidth of vector technology. No embarrassingly-parallel jobs are to be ran on these systems.
gemini.jpl.nasa.gov
Gemini is the front-end login system for the Altix cluster. Its primary purpose is for code development and other interactive tasks.
