JPL SGI Altix 3000 Systems
The Altix 3000 is a scalable shared-memory multiprocessor system from Silicon
Graphics, Inc.
SGI's cc-NUMA (cache coherent non-uniform memory access) architecture supports
shared-memory SMP (OpenMP or Pthreads) and message passing (MPI or SHMEM)
programming, or a combination of both (hybrid programming). It combines the
scalability of a massively-parallel machine, and the high-capacity memory
bandwidth of vector technology. The Altix 3000 runs the Linux operating system (SuSE 10).
